To provide the recent graduate with a significant year of clinical experience in which the resident may refine, sharpen and broaden his clinical techniques - expanding on the basics of dental school education.

Provide In-Hospital experience to treat hospitalized and medically compromised patients in medical services as well as on the dental service.

Provide the resident experience to function in the hospital operating room, the emergency ward and on the general medical wards.

Provide the resident with practical knowledge in managing an outpatient practice including the business functions of accounting, appointment control and record keeping.

Provide the resident with exposure to medical disciplines which may have direct or indirect affects in dental practice and which will allow the resident the chance to observe the functions of these related services.

The objectives of the program is not to produce a "hospital dentist" but rather a well-trained clinician who can competently care for a medically compromised patient within the hospital as well as in a n outpatient setting.
